MMA TRAINING

Put It
Together.

MMA brings different martial arts disciplines together into one complete fighting system.

Rather than training striking and grappling as completely separate skills, mixed martial arts teaches students how those ranges interact.

At PMAA, MMA training draws on our foundations in striking, grappling and wrestling to develop students who can move between different phases of a fight.

Training can include striking at distance, clinch work, takedowns, ground control, submissions, escapes, conditioning and controlled sparring.

THE THREE RANGES

Learn To Fight
Everywhere.

MMA requires the ability to operate effectively across different distances and positions.

01

Striking Range

Develop punching, kicking, footwork, defence, distance management and combinations derived from the striking arts.

02

Clinch Range

Learn to control position at close range, work from the clinch and connect striking with takedowns and grappling.

03

Ground Range

Build skills in positional control, escapes, submissions, ground striking and maintaining effective positions on the mat.

CORE DISCIPLINES

Different Arts.
One System.

MMA doesn’t replace individual martial arts. It brings their strengths together.

STRIKING

Punches, kicks, combinations, movement, defence and distance management.

GRAPPLING

Position, leverage, submissions, escapes and control on the ground.

WRESTLING

Takedowns, clinch control, balance and the ability to dictate where an exchange happens.

COMPETITION TRAINING

Training Gets
More Specific.

Competition requires more than knowing techniques. Training must prepare you to perform those skills against a resisting opponent, under pressure and within the rules of the sport.

01

Technical Development

Sharpen the fundamentals and develop combinations, transitions and strategies that work together.

02

Live Training

Controlled sparring and positional work help students learn how techniques behave against genuine resistance.

03

Fight Strategy

Learn to manage distance, pace, position and energy while adapting to an opponent.

04

Conditioning

Develop the physical capacity required to maintain technique and decision-making as fatigue increases.

05

Competition Preparation

Training can become increasingly specific as a student prepares for an upcoming bout or event.

06

Performance Mindset

Build composure, discipline and the ability to stay focused when training becomes demanding.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Not Everyone
Wants To Compete.

And that’s completely fine. Competition training can be approached at different levels depending on the student’s goals, experience and commitment.

01

MMA Students

For students who want to develop a complete mixed martial arts skillset and take their training beyond individual disciplines.

02

Aspiring Competitors

For students who are considering stepping into amateur competition and want structured preparation.

03

Experienced Martial Artists

Striking and grappling experience can provide a strong foundation for transitioning into MMA.

04

Performance Focused Students

Competition isn’t the only reason to train hard. Some students simply want a more challenging, performance-focused training environment.

THE COMPETITOR’S MINDSET

Pressure
Reveals Gaps.

Competition training isn’t about looking good when everything goes according to plan.

It is about learning to make decisions when things become difficult, when an opponent doesn’t cooperate and when fatigue starts to affect performance.

Training develops discipline, composure and the ability to recognise what needs improvement.

Losses and difficult sessions are part of the process. They provide information that can be used to make the next phase of training better.

THE PATHWAY

Build The
Foundation First.

MMA is a demanding discipline. A strong technical foundation allows students to progress safely and effectively as training becomes more advanced.

01

Foundation

Build fundamental striking, grappling, movement and fitness.

02

Integration

Learn how striking, grappling and wrestling connect together.

03

Live Training

Develop timing, reactions and decision-making against controlled resistance.

04

Competition

For suitable students, training can progress toward competition-specific preparation.
